Many of our Nigerian staff have been assigned to positions outside of Nigeria as part of their professional and career development. These assignments may be as short as 6 months but are often more than 3 years. Many of these assignments are based on exchange where Nigerians are sent abroad to develop their skills and experience base and they are replaced by expatriates with the intention of transferring new technology to ExxonMobil's operations in Nigeria.

The number of Nigerian employees going abroad for assignment is at all time high and with continued expansion and aggressive development programs, we anticipate this number will continue to grow.

More than 100 Nigerians are currently on various assignments in different affiliates of ExxonMobil all over the world - in places like Singapore, Malaysia, France, UK, US, and Qatar. A large percentage of the Nigeria employees who go on these assignments come back to positions of greater responsibilities than when they left and they are a key source of replacements for the expatriates here in Nigeria.
